Applications are invited for a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at hospital in Midlands. The successful candidate will be based at Hospital, Crewe in the Emergency Department, Division of Medicine and Emergency Care, which consists of 11 whole time equivalent Consultants (including this post) supported, at present, by 5 Specialty Doctors, 6 Specialist trainees, 6 GPSTs, 3 Foundation Year 2 Doctors and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

The selected candidate should possess active GMC registration and maintain a valid Licence to Practise. Additionally, they should either be listed on the Specialist Register or be within six months of acquiring their Certificate of Completion of Training.

Main Duties 

  • 10 PA post under 2003 Consultant Contract; private practice requires extra activity.
  • Weekly: 8 DCC sessions, 2 SPA sessions, 1 in 10 on-call, one late shift.
  • Hospital’s ED handles 90,000 patient episodes annually.
  • VIN Minor Injuries Unit serves around 20,000 patients yearly.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

The role involves the daily management of patients visiting the Emergency Department. Furthermore, the responsibilities encompass:

  • Collaborating with Consultant colleagues to deliver Emergency Medicine services for the local population under the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Cultivating relationships among Emergency Department members, the Division of Medicine and Emergency Care, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrating flexibility to ensure exceptional care, emphasizing adherence to local and national standards, communication policies, and resource optimization.

Person Specification: Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register via:
    • CCT in Emergency Medicine (CCT proposed date within 6 months of interview)
  • FRCEM or equivalent
  • Current provider certificates in ALS, ATLS, and/or ETC, APLS and/or EPLS

Experience: Essential:

  • Proven experience in Emergency Department at Consultant level
