The role

The post will be responsible for providing expert knowledge and legal advice on governance and regulatory matters to the College.

The Deputy College Solicitor will be an authority in the following key legislative areas:

  • Administrative Law
  • Contract Law
  • Education Law with particular focus on the proposed new HEA Act
  • Corporate Law and Governance
  • Employment and Equality Law


  • Have an excellent understanding of corporate law and governance in Europe / Ireland – other jurisdiction requirements an advantage.
  • Be able to apply regulatory advice to an education and business environment and have a good understanding of the related data protection and compliance risks.

Education & Experience

  • Strong IT skills, an understanding of IT systems and have excellent written and verbal English.
  • Must possess ability to exercise good judgment, communicate with clarity, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Must be able to work independently under general supervision and occasionally work as part of a larger inter-disciplinary team
  • 3 years+ experience in a public body/large organisation advisory role, experience of working in a third level HEI would be an advantage.
