PE Global Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Ecologist on behalf of our client, a Government Entity.   The candidate will be located in an office based on the successful candidate’s geographical location. This is a permanent role and there is an excellent salary and benefits package for the successful candidate.


The Role:

Co-ordinate   the   delivery   of   appropriate   assessment   and   other   statutory  compliance requirements  for managing  forests and other biodiversity  areas  including  Screening and NIS Reports.  Responsible for  co-ordinating  and  managing  the  nature  conservation  programme within the Business  Area Units (BAUs)  across the organisation.  Be actively involved in planning, managing  and monitoring  sites of nature conservation value in each BAU,  with the ability to influence plans as appropriate.  Co-ordinating  teams of consultants to plan and monitor  sites, in conjunction with BAU teams.  Proactively build  skills  and capacity within the organisation and external suppliers  to deliver appropriate  site management.



  • Co-ordinate the delivery of appropriate assessment and other statutory compliance requirements for managing biodiversity areas
  • Support the delivery of the client’s biodiversity programme, by sourcing the right service providers and co-ordinating their work with the BAUs
  • Build skills  and capacity to deliver nature conservation management
  • Design and deliver appropriate training materials  and programmes  to support delivery
  • Co-ordinate/project manage biodiversity  initiatives
  • Support the annual reporting of work achieved and benefits/relevance
  • Provide expert biodiversity  advice to management
  • Providing leadership on biodiversity  and nature to staff in the BAU
  • Develop capacity of BAU staff to identify, plan and deliver relevant biodiversity management
  • Monitor the planning and management of biodiversity  areas in BAUs


Relevant  tertiary qualification  in Botany,  Ecology or related discipline,   with  a  minimum   of  5  years’  experience,  ideally  including   the  survey  and ecological assessment of forest habitats
