PE Global are looking for a Junior Validation Engineer to join Caterpillar Engine Manufacturer based in Peterborough. This is a 12 month + contract hybrid position of 2-3 days onsite.

 

We are seeking to add a junior Performance and Validation Engineer within our Advanced Powertrain Development Team focussed on the delivery of Battery Pack and Power System performance and validation testing. As a Performance/Validation engineer, you will report daily to the Lead Validation Test Engineer. You will be part of a team that has the responsibility for conducting testing, development and sign off for the Electrification programmes under the direct responsibility of the Europe Research and Development Centre. In the role you will be challenged with process excellence, maintaining engineering best practices and produce high quality documentation. While the primary focus of this work is based in the United Kingdom you will be expected to integrate as part of a Global Caterpillar team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and/or direct Battery Pack performance and validation tests.
  • Work with the program team and test facilities to develop test plans to meet Technical and Product Objectives under the supervision of the lead engineer.
  • Conduct and/or direct data quality checks, test result integrity and repeatability.
  • Data analysis across multiple Conformance, Performance and Validation test protocols.
  • Produce technical reports and present data to program team and wider NPI team.
  • Participate in the team knowledge sharing and processes development.
  • Write requirements, procedures, and reports and formally present on test outcomes.

Required Experience

  • Electric or Electronic Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent years of experience) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for problem solving and data analysis.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Previous testing or data analysis experience.
  • Previous experience in a delivery oriented high-pressure environment.
  • Previous experience with testbed software, calibration tools, and test data logging systems.
  • Previous experience with high voltage batteries or systems.
  • Experience with data analysis SW and automation reporting tools.
  • Leadership attitude and previous exposure on Project Management methods and processes
  • Knowledge on Development through New Product Introduction (NPI) Process
