PE Global is currently recruiting for a Offshore Lead Cables Engineer. This is an initial 12-month contract remote role.

Position Description
The successful candidate will represent the best technical and commercial interests while acting on their behalf on Offshore Wind projects in Ireland. They will be an experienced electrical engineer who will work in a team of highly skilled professionals to develop Offshore Wind projects and to identify and implement the most commercially appropriate contracting strategy to industry standards, safely and within budget. They will be required to engage with partners, contractors, OEMs and colleagues to influence a successful outcome for the projects. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, innovative, commercially driven and have a track record of successfully delivering technical design/construction projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
 Act as electrical lead for the offshore substation and cable arrays and coordinate interfaces with offshore wind turbines, substation jacket/monopole, transmission export cable, onshore substation etc.
 Coordinate the overall windfarm system design (system studies, protection, SCADA, grid code compliance etc.) with the relevant technical experts and the TSO.
 Development of initial concept design (Front End Engineering Design (FEED)) of the offshore electrical elements of Offshore Windfarms for planning consent submissions, optimisation of grid connections and cost estimation.
 Optioneering of design solutions for offshore substation platforms.
 Inform DevEx, CapEx and OpEx assumptions and estimates relating to offshore structures throughout the various stages of project development.
 Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, partners, and other key stakeholders to develop competitive cost estimates for auction submissions.
 Identify the most commercially appropriate contracting strategy to deliver the project to industry standards, safely and within budget.
 Preparation of technical specifications, employer’s requirements, schedules, and other relevant documentation required to complete tender packages.
 Evaluation of tender submission and contract negotiation with and award to preferred tenders to achieve best value for money.
 Ensure that safety, health, and environmental issues are considered at all stages of the project.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have the qualities listed below:
 Minimum of 4 years’ experience in HV power industry or in the electrical works associated with large scale renewable generation projects.
 An excellent capability and experience in topside design development and optimisation and technical specification preparation.
 A good understanding of Tendering, Tender evaluations, scoping, planning, design, costing, construction and commissioning associated with substations or electrical works associated with offshore wind projects.
 Knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, Contract & Install (EPCI) specifically for offshore substations topsides.
 A proven track record in delivering offshore substations or electrical works associated with large scale offshore wind projects.
 Knowledge of commercial implications of project delivery.
 The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
 Good decision-making capability and judgement.
 Good Contractor negotiation skills.
 Strong interpersonal/communication and stakeholder management skills.
 Full drivers’ licence valid for use in Republic of Ireland.

 Substation Design Experience.
 Experience of working on Offshore Substation projects.
 PSDP or CDMC experience.
 Project/contract management and programme management skills and knowledge.

Level 8 engineering qualification or equivalent work experience is required.
