PE Global Healthcare is currently recruiting for a Permanent Staff Nurse for a leading Healthcare client based in East Galway.

The Role:                            

To provide clinical nursing skills in supporting people with intellectual disabilities in achieving optimum level of independence.  To exhibit and maintain the highest quality of nursing practice and apply their skills to ensure the physical, social, emotional needs of the people supported by the services in their care are addressed at all times. Be responsible for the provision of nursing care and also be an informed resource for educating support workers and family members which shall benefit people supported by the services.

Qualifications:                 

A current Live Register Certificate with the NMBI (An Bord Altranais), RNID qualification is highly desirable but not essential.  A clean, full, manual Irish driving licence is an essential requirement of the post.

Experience:                       

Candidates must have a level of experience sufficient to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability. Experience of working with people with challenging behaviour is an advantage.

Skills:                                   

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Good judgement, discretion and confidentiality
  • The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, to communicate appropriately with the people we support and sensitively with family members.
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • The ability to work independently and seek support from interdisciplinary colleagues as appropriate.
  • Patience, flexibility, creativity and eagerness to become involved in a range of activities.
  • Ability to educate other staff and family members in positive health promotion needs
  • The successful candidate will be required to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy, participate in person-centred planning, reviews, team meetings, attend and participate in training courses, and be an active member of the team.

Working Hours:

Permanent full-time 75 hours a fortnight X 6. Permanent part-time hours 39/75 a fortnight x 1
