PE Global is currently recruiting for a Power Trader for a Renewable Energy Company based in Co. Kildare.

The successful candidate will be responsible for trading a diverse portfolio of generation assets. The holder of this role shall work as part of the team that maximises Company Power Generation assets participation in the ISEM markets (Day Ahead, Intraday, Balancing Market, Intraday Continuous.

Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of the trading team to optimise the company generations assets in the Day Ahead, Intraday and Balancing Markets. Analysing the existing strategies to identify enhance trading opportunities.
  • Maximising the revenue through the balancing market for wind and renewable assets.
  • Monitoring and managing the company exposure to imbalance charges.
  • Assist in the preparedness and development of future trading activities for an expanding
  • Power Generation portfolio including trading new thermal, wind, BESS or solar assets.
  • Working with Data Analytics team, contributing to the analysis and development of forecasting models and enhanced trade execution strategies.
  • Keep up to date and understand all energy policy implications, including SEM-C consultations and be able to articulate the impact of policy changes on company generation portfolio and strategic assets.
  • Work as part of the broader Commercial Team Build and cultivate productive working relationships with the operations team and the wider Renewable Energy team. Liaise and work with Operations on short term asset unavailability issues. The holder of this role will be required to be flexible in working arrangements and be available for out of hours trading cover for example for plant start-ups on a limited basis.
  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives.

Responsibilities/Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes.

  • Third level degree (min 2:1 classification) in a discipline with a high level of numerical, analytical, and/or financial content. (Engineering, Finance, Science, Data Science)
  • 1- 3 years’ experience.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (Macros, pivot tables etc)
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Team player, Self-motivated desirable.
  • Experience in SQL, Demonstrable experience of managing large data sets and analysing large volumes of data to identify trends.
