PE Global is recruiting for a Senior EHS Specialist for our pharmaceutical client in Louth. This is a permanent role.

As the Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist you will be responsible for providing technical support on Environmental, occupational safety, ergonomic issues and other relevant environmental, health and safety issues.

In this role you’ll be reporting to the EHS Lead

Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will….

• Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and internal policies and procedures.
• Coordinate environmental controls and ensure compliance with IPC license.
• Ensure records are maintained. Generate reports in a timely and efficient manner.
• Liaise with external EHS Agencies e.g., EPA. Ensure compliance with all environmental licenses for the facility.
• Coordinate site environmental waste management and drive continuous improvements.
• Ensure compliance with Battery, WEEE and Waste Packaging Directives for Europe.
• Carry out risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
• Implement and update EHS control procedures as required.
• Develop training programmes and provide training on EHS.
• Coordinate procurement, supply, provision and maintenance of personal protective equipment and personal monitoring equipment.
• Coordinate meetings and provide information and training.
• Coordinate occupational health surveillance programs.
• Carryout accident investigations and generate reports.
• Perform all duties in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs and controlled documents.
• Will be flexible to take on additional tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the EHS Associate Director.
• Act as a role model for the Operation/EHS function and the wider organisation in adherence to the corporate core values and PROUD culture.

Your Profile: The ideal candidate for this position, will have the following:

Education/Qualifications:
• Degree in Science, Engineering and/ or health & Safety is required.
• Postgraduate in Health & Safety as a minimum

Knowledge/Experience:

Required:
• 5+ years related industry experience – pharmaceutical/biological is preferable and experience working within a regulatory environment is required.
• Demonstrated experience in managing EHS Teams either within the Department or as part of a program initiative.
• Leading Root Cause investigations.
• Attention to detail and sound scientific problem solving will be fundamental to this role with a minimum 3-4 years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role in a manufacturing or process industry.
• Have a strategic mindset, seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies.
• Be innovative, by creating new & better ways for the organisation to be successful.

Preferred:
• Previous start-up experience or Biological Industrial experience would be desirable.
• Implementing an EHS Management System – procedures, training and coaching of departments to ensure compliance.
• Previous experience with Regulatory Authority such as Irish Water, H.S.A and EPA.

• Positive track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal, external clients and customers.
• Ability to work well with other technical staff in a collaborative, fast paced, goal driven environment.
• Self-starter with the ability to complete work independently as well as successfully lead other if needed.
