Tooling Lead

We are seeking a Tooling Lead to join team with open pathways for progression. The role of Tooling Lead will work 5-days per week.

As Tooling Lead you will be responsible for making or improving different types of tools to enable the production processes at our manufacturing facility to be as efficient as possible. This will include jigs, fixtures, clamps and moulds to obtain a more robust consistently produced part that meets the specification of the customer.

This role will require a mix of hands-on experience together with a skillset that will lead the tooling agenda for Cork.  You will be a key stakeholder and will need to have a thorough understanding of the processes involved in creating a product together with knowledge the various tools and machinery used in the manufacturing process and how to operate them.

Overview of Key Accountabilities

• Partner with our Process & Technical Lead to implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
• Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Tool Room activities
• Provide specialist technical advice and support on all aspects of Tool design & manufacturing
• Support production and engineering with tooling/technical problems
• Supports Production and Engineering to manage and guarantee on time availability of tools to ensure continuous production and increase of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
• Develop and manage procedural arrangements whereby proposals on new equipment or tool design can be assessed for their impact in performance terms
• Maximise the use of all resources, including IT and database maintenance for tracking all tools, implementing a planned schedule of maintenance and repair activity to ensure a computerised log is kept on faults and service history of tools
• Budget for investment of new equipment and drive these investments
• Responsible for all aspects of in house tool manufacturing, maintenance, development and testing activities to ensure the business objectives are met
• Work to maximise productivity and maintain the highest levels of workmanship for all tooling activities
• Lead and co-ordinate resources within the technical team to ensure all tooling are produced efficiently, on time and in line with quality standards ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
• Reviewing and approving designs for new products or product improvements to ensure that they are feasible from a manufacturing standpoint

Minimum Qualifications & Experience Required:

• BSc in engineering discipline (or appropriate apprenticeship qualification)
• Experience in Tooling Leadership role will be an advantage
