About the Role

PE Global, as tier 1 suppliers to the HSE, is currently recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Acute / General Medicine Team within Community Healthcare West.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work as part of a progressive, multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy services in line with national standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Occupational Therapist will:

  • Manage their own clinical caseload and oversee the day-to-day running of the designated service area.

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy treatment programmes for service users.

  • Supervise and support staff and students, promoting professional development and high standards of practice.

  • Participate in integrated discharge planning, team meetings, and case reviews.

  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and effective communication with multidisciplinary team members.

  • Lead service planning, anticipate changing needs, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

  • Support quality assurance, audit, and performance management activities, including KPI delivery.

  • Promote a culture of safety, evidence-based practice, and continuous improvement in line with HSE clinical governance and risk management frameworks.

Education & Professional Development

  • Participate in mandatory and ongoing professional development training.

  • Engage in professional supervision, peer support, and performance review processes.

  • Support the education, training, and supervision of students, newly qualified therapists, and multidisciplinary colleagues.

  • Contribute to research, service evaluation, and the dissemination of best practice.

Health & Safety and Risk Management

  • Promote a safe and compliant working environment in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.

  • Identify and manage clinical and operational risks within the service area.

  • Comply with infection control, hygiene, and data protection policies.

  • Participate in continuous quality improvement, sustainability, and health promotion initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications:
Candidates must:

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by CORU.

  • Have a minimum of three years’ full-time post-qualification clinical experience.

  • Possess the knowledge and ability (including a high standard of professional competence) required for the duties of the post.

  • Provide proof of statutory registration with CORU prior to appointment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Maintain annual CORU registration and provide confirmation to the HSE via the Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of clinical experience in the management of patients within Acute / General Medicine.

  • Have access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the role.
