PE Global, in partnership with our client, are currently recruiting a Director of Nursing for their Residential Facility based in Sligo

Overview :

The Director of Nursing (DON) will be supported by the management team in the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the nursing home, ensuring a high standard of evidence-based care in line with HIQA regulations (2024), company policies, and national standards. The DON will play a key role in quality improvement, governance, compliance, staff management, and resident wellbeing with the support of the team.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Working closely with the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)  in leading and supervising the delivery of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care.
• Ensure compliance with HIQA standards, national health policies, and all relevant legislation.
• Oversee infection prevention and control measures and maintain accurate clinical documentation delegated to the management team.
• Support, supervise, and mentor nursing and care staff, promoting professional development with the assistance of the management team.
• Participate in recruitment, rostering, performance appraisals, and team leadership with the assistance of the ADON.
• Act as a key contact for residents and families, ensuring dignity, autonomy, and choice.
• Work alongside the ADON to assist with audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives, as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience in nursing management /nursing home or similar aged care setting within the last 6 years for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland
• Demonstrated excellent knowledge of HIQA Standards, the National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland, and relevant legislation.
• Leadership training and/or a management qualification (e.g., QQI Level 6 in Management) is essential.
