PE Global are seeking a recently qualified or experienced Environmental Coordinator. This role is based in North Cork / Kerry area’s.
The successful candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental Co-ordinator who will drive key sustainability initiatives. This role plays a critical part in driving compliance and performance for the site. The Environmental Coordinator will be capable of ensuring sustainability goals are met and improved year over year. They will be a self-motivated, forward thinker able to manage your own time and deliver results.
Key Responsibilities:
Sustainability Strategy & Compliance: Develop, implement, and refine sustainability goals, policies, procedures, and guidelines to align with company and regulatory standards. Complying with sustainability frameworks, driving continuous improvement. Collaborate with internal teams to integrate sustainability principles into daily operations.
Project Management & Reporting: Lead sustainability projects around reducing waste, energy consumption, and carbon emissions, identifying opportunities for environmental impact reduction. Prepare clear and compelling sustainability presentations to communicate initiatives and progress to stakeholders and customers. Conduct and oversee sustainability audits, assessments, and inspections throughout the year, ensuring compliance with best practices. Identify & engage third-party experts to support sustainability improvements & innovation.
Employee Engagement & Training: Develop and implement employee upskilling and sustainability training programs to foster a culture of environmental responsibility. Provide ongoing support and education to teams to enhance sustainability awareness & engagement.
Supplier & Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and update the Approved Supplier List, ensuring all relevant sustainability certifications remain valid and up to date. Support internal, customer, regulatory, and certification audits, acting as a key liaison for sustainability-related matters. Experience in/around waste water treatment would be a strong advantage.
Data & Performance Tracking: Track, analyse, and report on sustainability KPIs, ensuring targets are met and action plans are executed effectively. Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the company.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience:
Minimum Level 7 qualification in Environmental Science or sustainability related field.
Experience in a sustainability role within the food industry is highly desirable.
Technical & Regulatory Knowledge:
Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, regulatory standards, and food industry compliance.
Experience with sustainability programs is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to present data clearly and persuasively.
Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Training or certifications in sustainability-related fields would be a significant advantage.
