Clinical Pharmacy Technician – East Galway

PE Global Healthcare is currently recruiting for an experienced Clinical Pharmacy Technician for a hospital-based opportunity in East Galway. This is a full time contract role. 

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Pharmacy Technician with previous hospital pharmacy experience and strong dispensary experience to join a busy clinical environment and contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pharmacy technician support within a hospital clinical pharmacy service.
  • Undertake dispensary duties, including the preparation and dispensing of medications.
  • Support pharmacists with the safe and efficient supply of medicines to patients.
  • Assist with stock management, ordering and storage of medicines.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of prescriptions and medication orders.
  • Work closely with pharmacists, doctors, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain high standards of medicines safety and patient care.
  • Follow hospital policies, procedures and professional standards at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience is essential.
  • Previous experience providing dispensary cover is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to patient safety.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and professional ability required to carry out the duties of the role.

Eligibility / Professional Qualifications

Eligible applicants must, on the closing date, meet one of the following criteria:

  • Hold a Pharmaceutical Technicians Diploma awarded by the University of Dublin;
    OR
  • Hold a Pharmacy Technician qualification at QQI Level 6 awarded by Dublin Institute of Technology, Athlone Institute of Technology, Letterkenny Institute of Technology or Carlow Institute of Technology;
    OR
  • Hold the Pharmacy Services Certificate (NVQ Level 3) offered by the Irish Pharmaceutical Union;
    OR
  • Be currently employed as a Pharmacy Technician within the publicly funded Irish Health Service;
    OR
  • Hold a relevant qualification at least equivalent to the above.
