Job Summary

Compassionate, dedicated and responsible Healthcare Assistant committed to providing high-quality personal care and support to residents and service users. Able to promote dignity, independence, comfort and wellbeing while working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, including bathing, showering, dressing and grooming.
• Assist residents with toileting and continence management.
• Support residents with eating, drinking and maintaining proper nutrition and hydration.
• Assist with mobility, walking, repositioning and safe transfers.
• Maintain residents’ comfort, dignity, privacy and independence.
• Monitor residents’ general wellbeing and report any changes to nursing staff.
• Provide emotional support, companionship and reassurance.
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
• Assist nurses with daily care activities within the scope of training.
• Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
• Follow health and safety, safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, healthcare assistants and other team members.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support or equivalent qualification (where required).
• Relevant healthcare experience is desirable.
• Up-to-date manual handling and patient moving training.
• Basic knowledge of safeguarding and infection control.
