PE Global is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician for a leading multi-national Pharma client based in Newport.
This is an initial 12 month contract position, working on site.
Pay rate is between £12.71 – £17.08ph PAYE depending on experience.
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting the efficient processing, handling, analysis, and storage of laboratory specimens while ensuring compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The role supports laboratory operations through specimen processing, data management, inventory control, equipment calibration, reagent preparation, quality control activities, and maintenance of accurate documentation within an ISO17025 environment.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities
- Process, log, scan, and accurately track laboratory samples using laboratory information systems and databases.
- Support the preparation, handling, and analysis of biological specimens in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform sample processing activities, including cell lysis and tissue preparation techniques.
- Prepare reagents, consumables, and laboratory materials required for daily testing activities.
- Conduct routine quality control checks and assist with the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records to ensure full traceability and compliance with ISO17025 and quality standards.
- Monitor sample and client data for accuracy and completeness, escalating any issues as required.
- Coordinate customer inventory requirements and support shipments between laboratory locations.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment while managing responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Ability to safely handle and move sample deliveries and laboratory materials, including lifting items of up to 15kg.
Education/Experience
- Degree in Science or relevant field.
- Strong pipetting skills and experience.
- Experience and comfort level working with chemicals in a lab setting.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills to convey and receive information.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
