We are seeking a number of General Operatives for vacancies on a busy food production line with immediate starts. Vacancies currently on Morning, Evening and Night shifts. 

These roles will primarily involve operating production machines, packaging, labelling and boxing with some warehouse roles also available. No experience required as full training will be provided for all new starters, but previous factory experience a strong advantage

Staff required to work a set shift roster. Flexibility required in regards to overtime and/or shifts changes during busy periods.

We currently have a limited number of slots available on morning shift roster which runs 6 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday.

We have a much larger number of openings on the afternoon and night shifts which run Monday to Friday 2 pm to 10 pm or 10 pm to 6 am – plenty of extra hours and weekend work available.

On completion of your training you will be assigned either morning, afternoon or a night shift rota. If you need to work a specific shift that you are only available for please flag to us before starting. Overtime applicable after 40 hours.

*please be advised you will ideally have access to a car to get to site.  This factory is circa 5 km from town, public transport is not an option due to shift times.

Those successful will be invited for upcoming inductions over the next couple of weeks – candidates will be immediately available.

*** There is no additional premium for working nights. These roles are on a contract basis initially with the possibility of permanency.  6 month contract initially and planned pathway to permanency thereafter for right candidates.

Please be advised these roles can be labour intensive and heavy lifting will be required, along with standing for long periods. · Lifting weights of up to 20 kgs regularly, standing for 4+ hours and be able to move around the factory floor safely and unaided.

Some understanding of English is required to complete training, but we can provide translators for a number of languages.

Job Purpose:

Work as part of the Production Team in the factory to cut and pack cheese and undertake all duties as directed by the supervisor/production manager. Play a key role in production, cleaning, Health & Safety and all other tasks as directed by management. Fulfil production targets on a daily and weekly basis. General Operators will be expected to have flexibility across all areas of the factory as needed.

General Operators working hours as follows 6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm / 10pm – 6am

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate production line equipment, perform a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to: cutting, packing and cleaning to meet production targets.
  • Lift weights of up to 20 kgs, stand for 4+ hours and be able to move around the factory floor safely and unaided.
  • Work as part of the team to set up the line, complete checks and ensure materials are ready to use. Perform all prestart, hygiene and safety checks as directed and before operating equipment.
  • Report all breakages, damages, or defaults of equipment to the production supervisor. Use machinery only when it is safe. Record checks as and when directed.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures and safe work practices.
  • Manual handling is mandatory, and all employees must use correct lifting techniques to comply with policy.
  • Report accidents and near misses as required and assist with any investigation as per Health & Safety procedures.
  • Participate fully in lean manufacturing processes and adapt to new methods of working.
  • Facilitate shadowing of employees as required.
  • Carry out additional duties as required to meet the needs of the business

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous production experience in a factory environment or as a general operative is desirable
  • Previous manual handling experience and an awareness of Health & Safety and food safety procedures
