PE Global Healthcare in partnership with our client a 42 purpose built residential care home based in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway who offer the highest standards of service and care for both long and short term needs are currently recruiting an Assistant Director of Nursing.
Overview :
The purpose-built Nursing Home provides the highest standard of nursing care. It is a family-run, private nursing home caring for 42 Residents in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Job Summary: The ADON will assist the Director of Nursing in managing and leading the nursing staff, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. This role is vital in promoting a culture of quality and safety within the Nursing Home.
Role Purpose: The ADON is a key leadership role responsible for establishing and overseeing a positive and focused environment that supports the provision of excellence in resident care and activities, in accordance with best national and international practices, within available resources.
This role will lead a multi-disciplinary team of professionals in the delivery of all aspects of clinical and care management to our residents.
This role is also responsible for overseeing and ensuring the delivery of a quality assurance program to support strong governance, continuous improvement and a culture of learning in the Nursing Home.
Reporting to: Person in Charge (PIC)
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership:
- Assist in the oversight and management of the nursing department.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Participate in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
- Support nursing staff in clinical decision-making and problem-solving.
Staff Management:
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of staff.
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide feedback to staff.
- Foster a positive and supportive work environment.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and appropriate skill mix.
Quality and Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIQA standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
- Address and resolve any issues related to resident care or staff performance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Communication and collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff, management, residents, and families.
- Promote effective communication within the nursing team and with other departments.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
- Ensure that patient care plans are effectively communicated and implemented.
Professional Development:
- Stay updated with current nursing practices and healthcare trends.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
- Encourage and support staff in their professional growth.

- IT Proficiency including Microsoft Office. Previous experience with Epic Healthcare package desirable.
Experience:
- Registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI]
- Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards.
- Experience in policy development and the ability to translate policy into working practices/action.
- Knowledge and experience of quality audit/assurance systems.
Candidate Requirements :
- Hold a recognised Managerial Qualification (Minimum level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications).
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards, including HIQA.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
