PE Global is currently recruiting on behalf of a leading global engineering and technology organisation for an experienced Manufacturing Technician to join their team in Barrow-in-Furness.

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Rate: £18.00 per hour

Contract: 6 months initially, with potential to extend based on performance

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded manufacturing professional to work within a highly skilled production environment, supporting assembly, testing, troubleshooting and process control activities across electronic, mechanical and systems-based manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical duties and support projects within a designated manufacturing functional area.
  • Carry out testing, measurements, operations and process controls in line with established procedures.
  • Follow job packets, routings, work orders, wire lists, quality travellers and Bills of Material (BOMs).
  • Perform production testing and assembly activities to required quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain production tools and equipment to ensure they remain safe and fit for purpose.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose product, process and programme defects, carrying out repairs where required.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Identify components and carry out wire preparation, stripping and crimping.
  • Perform harness repair and termination activities.
  • Use a range of relevant manual hand tools and manufacturing equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of electronics, hydraulics and mechanical assemblies.
  • Support automated machine operation and programming activities where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using established manufacturing systems, principles and tools.
  • Provide technical investigation support and assist with resolving production issues.

Key Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have experience within a technical manufacturing, engineering or production environment, with exposure to areas such as:

  • Production assembly
  • Production testing
  • Technical investigation and fault finding
  • Manufacturing workflows
  • Electronics and/or electrical assembly
  • Mechanical assemblies
  • Hydraulics
  • Wire preparation, stripping and crimping
  • Harness assembly, repair and termination
  • Reading engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Use of hand tools and production equipment
  • Automated machinery operation and/or programming

Working Hours & Rates

Standard Day Shift – £18.00 per hour

  • Monday–Thursday: 07:00–15:45
  • Friday: 07:00–11:30

Overtime

  • Monday–Saturday overtime: 1.5× hourly rate
  • Sundays and Public Holidays: 2× hourly rate

Backshift

  • Monday–Thursday: 15:45–00:45
  • 20% backshift uplift
  • Backshift overtime paid at 1.5× hourly rate
