We are seeking a Power Systems Reliability & Asset Integrity Engineer to join the Power Systems Technical Support Department.

This department provides specialized technical support for High Voltage (HV) Electrical Equipment across Power Operations. The Reliability & Asset Management Division is responsible for administering power systems engineering studies, equipment life cycle management, reliability assessments, failure analysis, digital transformation initiatives, and maintenance strategy reviews. These efforts are aimed at ensuring a safe, reliable, and efficient power supply across the organization’s facilities. In addition, the division is responsible for developing and maintaining tactical response plans, reviewing existing strategies, identifying gaps, conducting drills, and improving recovery strategies. The division also evaluates smart technologies that allow for rapid power restoration.

The Power Systems Reliability & Asset Integrity Engineer will focus on developing tactical response plans for critical facilities and providing logistical assistance during emergencies. Furthermore, this role involves ensuring the readiness and health of mobile and capital assets to ensure business continuity in emergency scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives and implement technologies designed to enhance and reduce power restoration times.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement solutions for installations or modifications to improve existing facilities.
  • Support power system operations during the activation of tactical response plans.
  • Oversee the condition of capital and mobile assets and report required actions to the Power Systems Operations team.
  • Promote the introduction of new technologies and techniques within the field of expertise.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Develop and manage technology project packages.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure current and future operational requirements are met.
  • Support technical consultation with external stakeholders such as OEMs, vendors, contractors, and service providers, particularly in relation to mobile assets’ operational performance, design compliance, and maintainability.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant international standards such as IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and BS.
  • Lead or contribute to incident investigations.
  • Represent the organization in national and international technical committees and forums as required.
  • Develop and review tactical response plans.
  • Perform inspections and witness tests on mobile substations and towers.
  • Visually inspect capital assets to ensure their operational readiness.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Power Engineering and experience working on High Voltage Power Systems Electrical Equipment. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Power Utility industries, particularly in Power Systems Reliability & Asset Integrity Management, is required.

  • Hands-on field experience in power equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Solid experience and knowledge in substation equipment design, testing, installation, and commissioning, as well as familiarity with new technologies in Operations & Maintenance (O&M).
  • Experience with emergency preparedness and power business continuity programs.
  • Certified in Business Continuity Management (BCM) or Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).
  • Expertise in the design and operation of Medium and High Voltage Power Equipment.
  • Strong ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external contacts, including excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Awareness of resource management, such as system access, safety protocols, and contractor capabilities.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to operate effectively within a global matrix organization.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with mobile asset maintenance, transportation, and pre-commissioning.
