I am recruiting for a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist which is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team and provide specialist psychological, neuropsychological and neurorehabilitation services to adults with acquired brain injuries (ABI). The successful candidate will provide services across the three locations so a car will be essential:
The client provides high-quality, specialised assessment and neurorehabilitation service for people with complex cognitive, physical, behavioural and emotional difficulties following acquired brain injury.
Purpose of the Role
The Senior Clinical / Clinical Neuropsychologist will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, providing specialist assessment, formulation, intervention and neurorehabilitation services to adults with acquired brain injuries.
The successful candidate will have significant clinical experience and a strong interest in working with individuals presenting with complex cognitive, behavioural, emotional, psychological and physical needs.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment and intervention to adults with acquired brain injuries, including traumatic brain injury, stroke and other neurological conditions.
- Conducting psychological, cognitive and neuropsychological assessments and accurately interpreting psychometric assessment results.
- Developing comprehensive clinical formulations and delivering evidence-based psychological and therapeutic interventions.
- Conducting functional behavioural assessments and developing, implementing and reviewing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Supporting individuals throughout neurorehabilitation programmes, including collaborative goal setting, rehabilitation planning and community reintegration.
- Conducting capacity assessments and applying relevant legal, ethical and professional frameworks to clinical practice.
- Working effectively within the multidisciplinary team and contributing to case conferences, clinical reviews, risk assessments, safeguarding processes and discharge planning.
- Providing psychological consultation, advice and psychoeducation to residents, families, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Delivering staff training, education, workshops, presentations and clinical consultation.
- Providing clinical supervision to Assistant Psychologists and supporting the professional development of junior members of the psychology team.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical records and preparing high-quality psychological and neuropsychological reports.
- Contributing to clinical governance, audit, service evaluation, accreditation and quality improvement initiatives.
- Managing a complex clinical caseload while demonstrating excellent organisation, prioritisation, clinical judgement and decision-making skills.

- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships with residents, families, colleagues, senior management, external agencies and other stakeholders.
- A strong commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, safeguarding, clinical governance and evidence-based practice.
- Commitment to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and professional supervision in accordance with relevant professional guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:
- A recognised Honours Degree in Psychology.
- A recognised postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, or an equivalent relevant professional qualification.
- Eligibility for, and/or current registration with, the relevant professional psychological regulatory body, as applicable.
- Full professional qualification and eligibility to practise independently at the time of appointment.
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant postgraduate psychology experience, including relevant experience gained following professional qualification and/or during recognised postgraduate professional training.
- Relevant specialist training and clinical experience in acquired brain injury, neurorehabilitation, neuropsychology, cognitive assessment, behavioural support and psychological intervention.
- A full, clean driving licence and access to private transport, as the role requires travel between locations.
Recognition of Overseas Qualifications
Candidates who have completed their professional training outside the Republic of Ireland must have their qualifications appropriately validated and recognised by the relevant Irish professional and regulatory authorities, where applicable.
Candidates qualified outside the Republic of Ireland must have their qualifications validated by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) prior to the interview stage.
