PE Global is currently recruiting for a Entry Level Laboratory Assistant for a leading multi-national FMCG client based in Reading.

This is an initial 6 months contract.

PAYE Pay rate = £13.35 per hour

 

Duties of the role/Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
  • Perform a range of basic routine tasks and sample preparation under supervision of a senior member of staff.
  • Operate basic lab equipment as directed.
  • Prepare for laboratory tasks using the appropriate scientific techniques, procedures and methods
  • Perform laboratory tasks following specified methodologies, such as Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Use of specified instrumentation and laboratory equipment, including calibration where required.
  • Produce reliable, accurate data and keep accurate records of laboratory work undertaken and results.
  • Analyse, interpret and evaluate data and identify results requiring further investigation seeking advice of senior colleagues as appropriate.
  • Be competent in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role: Laboratory’s LIMS system, Q-Pulse, etc
  • Provide training in routine activities.
  • Perform Lab admin and housekeeping duties as directed.
  • Will be expected to work in different laboratories if the demand is required.
  • Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.
  • To maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
  • To understand and work to the requirements of UKAS.
  • Ensure training records are accurate.

Education/Experience

  • Highest level of qualification required – A level ideally in scientific subject
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self motivated, enthusiastic and quick to learn.
  • Well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
  • Computer literate in standard MS office applications
  • Accountable, honest, hardworking and able to work efficiently in a team
