PE Global Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Manager for a major Data Centre construction project in Portugal. This project is currently recognised as the largest Data Centre development in Europe, the project is due for completion in 2031
This is a unique opportunity to play a key commercial leadership role on one of the continent’s most high-profile and technically complex construction projects. The position offers flexibility to work on a rotational basis or as a permanent relocation, with an outstanding package and long-term career progression prospects.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of commercial and financial management, ensuring project delivery aligns with contractual, budgetary, and performance objectives. You will lead and develop a high-performing commercial team while managing subcontractor relationships and overseeing procurement, cost control, and client reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all commercial and procurement activities to achieve project cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Implement robust cost management systems and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Deliver timely and transparent commercial updates to senior stakeholders.
- Drive collaboration across project teams to align on scope, budget, and procurement plans.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Oversee subcontractor onboarding, procurement documentation, and contract compliance.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing, forecasting, and cash management.
- Promote best practice in commercial governance and supply chain performance.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior commercial or quantity surveying role within large-scale construction, MEP, or data centre projects.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple commercial packages on major projects.
- Strong understanding of contract law, cost control, and project financial management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and other project management tools.
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, international project environment.
