About the Role

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and high calibre corporate finance professional to the position of Senior Corporate Finance Manager. The role provides an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic team and apply the candidate’s corporate finance skills and experience to a broad range of assignments within the commercial State sector, working in a commercially driven environment that combines private sector best practices and a public sector remit.  

The successful candidate will work within a small team and will assist a member of the Senior Management Team (“SMT”) in overseeing an advisory role in relation to a number of the commercial State companies within our remit.

 

Principal Responsibilities

The successful candidates’ ongoing responsibilities will include:

  1. Assist a member of the SMT in the oversight from a shareholder perspective of a number of commercial State companies within our remit.
  2. Lead reviews of financial performance and business plans and material elements of transactions or activities being undertaken by commercial State companies (e.g. capital expenditure/projects, borrowing, funding, disposals, acquisitions, joint ventures).
  3. Capable of multi-tasking and working largely independently across a number of ongoing complex assignments, while liaising with the Director as appropriate.
  4. Act as a point of contact and assist the SMT member in managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, in particular, Government Departments and relevant commercial State companies.
  5. Assist in oversight of the delivery of climate objectives (e.g. decarbonisation / sustainability strategies) by commercial State companies including engagement with relevant stakeholders.
  6. Lead development of high-quality reports, including preparation and reviewing of same, to provide independent and objective financial advice to Ministers.
  7. Provide guidance and support to other members of the team.

 

Educational Requirements

 

  • Degree in relevant discipline (e.g. finance, business, commerce, accounting, economics)
  • Membership of a professional accountancy or similar financial body (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CFA)

Experience

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a relevant financial role in professional services, advisory or a commercial organisation of scale.
  • Experience in infrastructure related assignments/transactions and knowledge of regulated utilities is highly desirable.
