PE Global Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team delivering Europe’s largest Data Centre construction project in Lisbon, Portugal.

This is a key opportunity to join one of the most high-profile and technically advanced projects in Europe, playing a pivotal role in the commercial management, cost control, and subcontractor oversight of a major hyperscale development.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Lead, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will take ownership of multiple subcontract packages, providing strategic commercial support and ensuring robust cost management across all project phases. The role requires strong technical, financial, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead procurement, manage complex contracts, and support the successful commercial delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all subcontractor procurement, including preparation of tender packages, bid analysis, negotiation, and final contract award.
  • Manage multiple subcontract packages from award through to final account, including remeasurement, progress payments, and claims management.
  • Prepare and submit accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and end-of-project financial projections.
  • Conduct valuations, manage variations, and agree monthly applications with client representatives.
  • Handle claims and change management processes efficiently and in line with contract provisions.
  • Attend commercial meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on budgets and performance.
  • Provide clear commercial advice to the Project Director and site management team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of cost changes, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Foster collaboration and mentor junior members of the commercial team.

Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience in a senior quantity surveying or commercial management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
  • Proven experience managing multiple subcontract packages on large-scale projects.
  • Strong commercial, contractual, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Data Centre or MEP project experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
