Benefits and Salary

The current salary scale for this post is €57,103 to €67,901 per annum. This pay scale is subject to increases in 2026 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations.  Annual leave: Annual leave entitlement is between 34-37 days dependent on experience and proportionately less for less than 12 months service.

 

Responsibilities :

Overall Purpose of the Post:

The Clinical Nurse Manager will be responsible for the clinical oversight within a large team delivering care and support to adults with disability support needs in the residential service. This will involve working with and being supported by a management team to ensure compliance with HIQA standards, implementation of the policies and procedures and supporting best care and practice in disability services. The main responsibilities include working in partnership with service owners and their families, resource management, ensuring a safe effective service to service users, staff development, standard setting and monitoring, facilitating communication and managing the nursing team to deliver the service. The post-holder will also have a lead role in management and monitoring of risk and safeguarding across the service. 

Duties:

Professional  / Clinical

  • Work collaboratively with the Social Care Leader and CNM3 to ensure the delivery of high standards of clinical care and support to the residents through the supervision and support of the staff team.
  • Act as Person in Charge during absences of the CNM3.
  • Provide strong leadership in clinical practice and act as a resource and role model for the staff team.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and support to the nursing team in the delivery of quality clinical care to the residents.
  • Work collaboratively with the Social Care Leader in the provision of care support services to the residents.
  • The CNM2 will be responsible and accountable for their own nursing practice according to NMBI and the policies and deliver evidence-based care in line with current best practice.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings/reviews and take the lead on, communicating with the MDT and nursing team in relation to changes in needs and supports of those using the service.
  • Collaborate with residents, family, carers and other staff in health action planning/ care planning and in the provision of support and advice and training where necessary.
  • Ensure that residents are treated with respect in their own homes.
  • Ensure all relevant records and documentation are kept appropriately and up to date in relation to service owners and staff in particular ensuring compliance with record keeping in line with legislation and HIQA requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of nursing standards, protocols and guidelines consistent with the highest standards of clinical care and participate in the development and delivery of training and enhance delivery of clinical practice to residents.

  • Act as Designated Officer in the absence of the PIC.

 

Training & Development

  • Identify the training needs of the Care Coordinator/Nursing team and Support Staff as appropriate.
  • Support and champion the continuous up skilling of support staff to ensure they are educated and empowered to take responsibility for routine clinical support tasks e.g. medication management, bowel regime support, Catheter Care.
  • Facilitate and deliver clinical practice training as required.
  • Monitor and record staff performance relating to care and clinical practice and liaise with the team where appropriate to raise the standards of practice and the services Supervision policy.
  • Provide supervision and clinical supervision in line with the service.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies for the progression of respite/holidays and community support services to meet the identified and emerging needs of the Service owners – working with the Social Care Leader and CNM3.

Criteria

Must be registered with An Bord Altranais as a Registered Nurse
Are registered in a Division by the register of Nurses 
A recognised validated University Degree or an equivalent qualification in Nursing
Have a minimum of 5 years post qualification full-time experience
Have a recognised management qualification
Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development
Have a minimum of 3 years working at a senior level, or in a supervisory capacity
Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with Children/Adults with disabilities, (physical disability, autism,
learning disability) and their families
Demonstrate the ability to provide staff supervision training and development
Have a working knowledge of HIQA Guidance for the Assessment of Centres for persons with Disabilities, regulations
and inspection requirements
