Role purpose
The financial accountant will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, as well as reporting, budgeting and cash management. The financial accountant will provide financial information and analysis to the leadership team, and other senior management to support decision-making. The financial accountant will oversee and monitor an effective compliance and control environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Maintain financial policies, controls, procedures and systems to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Lead the month-end close process, preparing timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity
- Closely monitor cash flow, working capital and other financial reports.
- Oversee and approve weekly payroll.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Oversee filing of mandatory returns in line with deadlines, including Irish VAT, VIES, Intrastat, UK VAT and UK Plastic Tax.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Governance of customer product pricing and performance of regular margin reviews, highlighting any price changes for implementation.
- Partnering with the senior management to provide information, insights and challenges, enabling better strategic planning, decision making & the ability to run the site in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
- Working closely within the Finance team; helping build capability and succession plans.
- Maintain a strong control environment and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and legal requirements.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, queries and activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 1-2+ years PQE (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) is required.
- Prior experience working in SME manufacturing or similar operational environment is highly desirable.
- Strong financial analysis with experience of preparing management accounts and month-end reporting packs
- Passion and commitment with high personal integrity and a practical and hardworking ethic
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Highly analytical with the ability to delve into the detail to drive improvements in the business
- Practical with a positive “can do” attitude
- Good understanding of IFRS and local standards
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.
- Fluency in English language skills
