Fire Prevention Officer – Part-Time

Location: South East Ireland – Waterford, Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny or South Tipperary
Hours: 17.5 hours per week (2.5 days)
Contract: Initial 12-month contract
Start Date: ASAP

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Fire Prevention Officers to support fire safety and fire prevention requirements across a number of large healthcare facilities throughout the South East.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fire safety professional to provide technical advice and support across existing facilities and capital projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and fire safety best practice.

Two regional positions are available, covering:

  • Waterford & Wexford
  • Carlow, Kilkenny & South Tipperary

 

The specific base location will be confirmed within the relevant region.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide technical advice and support in relation to fire safety and fire prevention compliance.
  • Assist with Fire Risk Assessments, inspections and fire safety audits.
  • Identify, assess and prioritise fire safety deficiencies and associated remedial works.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of fire safety improvement measures.
  • Liaise with project teams, contractors, design teams, specialist fire consultants and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure fire safety requirements are appropriately incorporated into new and existing facilities.
  • Provide technical input into capital projects and refurbishment works.
  • Support compliance with applicable legislation, standards, policies and recognised fire safety best practice.
  • Maintain effective communication with relevant stakeholders and provide professional fire safety guidance as required.

 

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Relevant experience in fire safety, fire prevention, fire engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, standards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience carrying out or supporting fire risk assessments, inspections and audits.
  • Experience identifying and managing fire safety remedial works.
  • Ability to provide clear technical advice to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with contractors, consultants, design teams and project stakeholders would be advantageous.
  • A relevant qualification in Fire Safety, Fire Engineering, Building Services, Construction or a related discipline is desirable.
