The Opportunity
We are currently working with a leading construction organisation to recruit Senior Building Services Engineers to join their growing project teams across Dublin & Kildare.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Services Engineer looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the successful delivery of major construction projects across a range of sectors, including commercial, industrial, education and healthcare.
The successful candidate will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from design coordination, specification and procurement through to installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
You will work closely with the wider project team, design consultants, specialist subcontractors and site management to ensure that all building services are properly coordinated, delivered to the required standards and completed in line with the agreed programme.
The Role
As a Senior Building Services Engineer, you will take responsibility for coordinating and overseeing building services activities across your assigned projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating mechanical and electrical building services with architectural, structural and other construction activities.
- Reviewing and interpreting MEP service drawings, specifications, architectural drawings and structural details.
- Working closely with design teams, consultants, subcontractors and site management to resolve technical and coordination issues.
- Managing and coordinating specialist MEP subcontractors to ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, company standards and programme requirements.
- Reviewing technical submissions, drawings and equipment information to ensure compliance with the project requirements.
- Assisting with the procurement of building services equipment and materials, including identifying potential programme and technical risks.
- Monitoring the installation of building services on site and ensuring works are progressing in line with the agreed programme.
- Identifying clashes, design issues and potential construction problems and working with the relevant stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
- Supporting the testing and commissioning of mechanical and electrical services and ensuring systems are completed to the required standards.
- Coordinating the completion of snagging, testing and commissioning activities through to project handover.
- Managing and coordinating the submission of O&M manuals, as-built information and other project close-out documentation.
- Assisting with the preparation of detailed tender documentation, specifications and other pre-construction information where required.
- Attending project and coordination meetings and providing regular updates on building services progress.
- Ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with relevant regulations, specifications, quality standards and health & safety requirements.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Building Services Engineer who is confident working in a fast-paced construction environment and can take ownership of their responsibilities.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A relevant 3rd level qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, ideally gained within a building contractor, MEP contractor or another transferable engineering environment.
- Strong experience in building services coordination and construction delivery.
- The ability to confidently read and interpret MEP, architectural and structural drawings.
- Experience working with design teams, consultants and specialist subcontractors.
- Good knowledge of the construction process from design and procurement through to installation, testing and commissioning.
- Experience with relevant IT systems and AutoCAD.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider project team.
