My client, a reputable employers of choice in Kildare, is looking to recruit a Head of Finance to lead and oversee the finance operations function of the organisation. The role offers a competitive salary, benefits, significant career progression and a hybrid working opportunity.
The Role:
- Lead and oversee core finance operations, including accounts payable, payroll and pensions, accounts receivable, client accounts, banking, taxation, general ledger, and systems administration.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and the completion of month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Manage banking operations and weekly cash flow forecasting, ensuring compliance with agreed banking facility limits.
- Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks to ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with financial, tax, and statutory obligations.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with banks, auditors, and other external partners.
- Champion efficiency and automation across financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
- Lead finance process improvement and transformation projects to strengthen internal controls, streamline reporting, and optimise financial operations for greater scalability and effectiveness.
- Work in close collaboration with finance teams, including FP&A, Company Secretariat (Audit & Risk), and Procurement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance operations team, promoting a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and enhance the effectiveness of financial operations.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline (essential).
- A recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA (essential)
- Demonstrated 10–15 years of post-qualification experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior finance leadership position within a commercial organisation or commercial semi-state body.
- Proven experience in managing Finance Shared Services is advantageous.
- Track record of leading finance system enhancements and transformation initiatives, with strong change management capabilities.
- Proficient in financial systems, with hands-on experience using ERP platforms such as Sun, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a focus on team development, performance management, and mentoring.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and drive strategic outcomes at a senior level.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards, financial regulations, and compliance frameworks.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly results-oriented, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
- Experience with ESG reporting standards is desirable.
- An interest in horse racing is considered a plus but is not essential.
