PE Global is currently seeking an SAP S/4HANA Digital Transformation Lead for one of the world’s most advanced energy and commodities trading companies that oversees an extensive portfolio of commodities and markets worldwide. The company is the trading arm of one of the world’s largest players in the global energy supply market and is diversifying and expanding its portfolio, utilising significant investment and innovation, allowing access to significant resources, scale and development.

The role is to lead the digital transformation of their finance and treasury operations. This strategic role will act as a bridge between finance leadership and IT, driving the definition and execution of a modern, integrated, and scalable finance architecture that supports evolving business needs, particularly in the context of its commodity trading operations.

We are seeking functional and technical expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance and Treasury modules, with ideally an understanding of the energy trading and downstream oil & gas industry. The role entails identifying process inefficiencies, especially around month-end and period-end closing, and recommending and delivering transformative, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the subject matter expert and solution leader for all finance and treasury-related processes within the SAP S/4HANA environment.
• Lead the end-to-end design, configuration, and optimisation of financial processes, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Cash Management, Treasury & Risk Management (TRM), Bank Communication Management (BCM), Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM), and BPC for planning.
• Identify gaps in current system design and propose process improvements, customizations, or integrations to support financial close efficiency and compliance.
• Partner closely with Finance and IT teams to assess and enhance current-state processes in Record-to-Report (R2R), Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Cash & Liquidity Management.
• Conduct root cause analysis on current system and process inefficiencies, particularly during month-end close cycles, and deliver actionable recommendations.
• Develop a transformation roadmap for finance digitalisation, including roadmap planning, capability gap analysis, and stakeholder alignment.
• Lead and mentor a team of consultants and functional specialists during system design, testing, training, and go-live phases.
• Support the CIO and CFO in executive-level briefings, solution presentations, and strategic decision-making around finance automation and digital transformation.
• Evaluate business units based on financial complexity (e.g., FX exposure, payment volumes, cash visibility) to prioritise transformation initiatives.
• Ensure alignment with controls, audit requirements, and global financial governance standards.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure seamless integration across systems and with banking partners.
• Stay current with SAP innovations, including S/4HANA Cloud enhancements, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), and emerging treasury and cash management tools.

Candidate Profile:

• 10+ years of SAP consulting experience, with at least 5 years focused on S/4HANA Finance & Treasury modules in the Oil & Gas (Downstream) and commodity trading sectors.
• Demonstrated track record leading finance process design and implementation in 6+ full lifecycle SAP ERP projects, including at least 2 large-scale S/4HANA Finance implementations in O&G or commodity trading environments.
• Deep functional expertise in one or more of the following modules: FI, CO, TRM, FSCM, CFIN, GRC, BPC, or SAC for planning and analytics.
• Hands-on experience in Treasury & Risk Management, including cash forecasting, liquidity management, FX exposure, hedge accounting, bank connectivity, and payment factory implementations.
• Experience leading business blueprinting, system configuration, testing, training, and post-go-live support.
• Proven experience in shared services transformation, finance automation, and finance operating model redesign.
• Demonstrated ability to craft and deliver executive-level presentations and business cases tailored for CFOs and Treasurers.
• Strong understanding of bank APIs, payment hubs, financial data models, and integration patterns within an ERP environment.
• Possession of professional finance or treasury certifications (e.g., CPA, CTP) or SAP certifications in Finance or Treasury is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s or MBA is a plus.
• Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement skills with a collaborative and results-driven mindset.
