CAD Technician
Department: Civil & Structural Engineering
Location: Office-based with potential for some remote work (weekly in-office meetings required)
Contract: Initial 24-week assignment, with potential extension for a further 24 weeks
Working Hours: Full-time

PE Global are delighted to be working with a very good client of ours who are a national infrastructure organisation is seeking a skilled CAD Technician to support its Civil Engineering department, specifically within a technical office focused on structural design and maintenance. This role supports the planning and execution of renewal and maintenance projects for key civil and structural assets.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in structural drafting or engineering support.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D).
• Basic understanding of structural engineering principles and construction methods.

Desirable:

• Experience working on infrastructure or construction-related projects, particularly within transport or public works environments.

Role Summary and Scope

The role involves providing CAD drafting and technical support within a multidisciplinary engineering team. Key areas of focus include rail-related civil structures, but the work may extend across a variety of infrastructure asset types.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, modify, and review detailed structural drawings for bridges, stations, tunnels, and other civil structures using CAD software.
• Interpret existing drawings, survey data, and inspection reports to support the design and delivery of refurbishment, strengthening, and maintenance works.
• Produce reinforcement detailing, steelwork layouts, and connection drawings.
• Ensure that all drawings and documentation adhere to relevant industry standards, including Eurocodes and British Standards.
• Maintain and manage CAD files, project documentation, and engineering records in line with project and departmental procedures.
