Senior Dietitian – Adult Mental Health (Specialist Eating Disorder Team)

Location: Mount Carmel, Rathgar, Dublin 14 & Elm Mount Unit, SVUH, Dublin 4
Organisation: HSE – Dublin South & Wicklow Mental Health Services (Community Healthcare East)
Contract: 6 Months.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Dietitian to join the Specialist Eating Disorder Team (EDS) within Dublin South & Wicklow Mental Health Services.

You will join a developing and supportive Mental Health Dietetic team, working within a multidisciplinary, recovery-focused service, delivering specialist dietetic assessment and intervention to adults with eating disorders.

About the Service

Community Healthcare East Mental Health Services provides comprehensive community and inpatient care to adults aged 18–64 and Psychiatry of Later Life services (65+).

The Eating Disorder Specialist Team is part of a wider specialist network including:

  • Rehabilitation & Recovery Teams

  • Mental Health Intellectual Disability Teams

  • Liaison Psychiatry & Perinatal Services

  • Peer Support & Recovery Education Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist dietetic assessment, care planning and intervention for adults with eating disorders.

  • Implement the National Clinical Programme for Eating Disorders.

  • Assess and manage nutritional risk across community and inpatient settings.

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues including psychiatry, psychology, nursing, OT, social work and therapy staff.

  • Provide supervision and line management to assigned Staff Grade Dietitians.

  • Participate in audit, service development, research and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Deliver evidence-based nutrition education and training to colleagues.

  • Contribute to service development across CHEast Mental Health Services.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Be registered or eligible for registration with CORU (Dietitians Registration Board).

  • Have a minimum of 3 years post-qualification dietetic experience.

  • Demonstrate significant experience in Eating Disorders and Mental Health.

  • Provide proof of CORU registration prior to contract.

  • Have completed Level 2 Behaviour Change training (or equivalent).

  • Demonstrate strong clinical knowledge in managing medically stable ED patients.

  • Show knowledge of the National Clinical Programme for Eating Disorders.
