PE Global is currently recruiting for a Construction Safety Engineer for a leading multi-national Biotech client based in Dublin South. This is an initial 12 month contract.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve RAMS documentation 
  • Walk construction work with the contractor in advance of execution to safe practices are followed
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and identify and eliminate any hazards or violations.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation, such as reports, records, permits, and certificates.
  • Provide safety training and orientation to the site staff and contractors, and ensure that they follow the safety rules and procedures.
  • Investigate and report any accidents, incidents, or near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with the project manager, the site supervisor, the client, and the relevant authorities and stakeholders on safety matters.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments and best practices in the field of construction safety.
  • Implement safety plans and programs for each construction project, in accordance with our policies and the applicable regulations and standards.
  • Creation of construction stage H&S plan
  • Coordinate the implementation of the Construction Regulations.
  • Notify the HSA before work commences, if applicable.
  • Coordinate arrangements to ensure workers have SafePass and relevant CSCS
  • Coordinate measures to restrict entry to site.
  • Coordinate the reporting of accidents to the HSA.
  • Coordinate the appointment of a Safety Representative, when there are 20+ people on site.
  • Appoint a Safety Advisor when there are 100+ people on site.
  • Provide required safety file information to the PSDP.
  • Identify hazards from the technical, organisational, planning or time related aspects of the project
  • Where possible, eliminate the hazards or reduce the risk
  • Communicate necessary control measure, design assumptions or remaining risks to the PSCS so they can be dealt with in the Safety and Health Plan
  • Ensure that the work of designers is coordinated to ensure safety
  • Organise co-operation between designers
  • Prepare a written safety and health plan for any project where construction will take more than 500 person days or 30 working days or there is a Particular Risk and deliver it to the client prior to tender.
  • Prepare a safety file for the completed structure and give it to the client
  • Notify the Authority and client of non-compliance with any written directions issued

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience as a construction safety engineer or a similar role, ideally at a biopharmaceutical facility (or similar).
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and the relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
