PE Global are delighted to be working with our client, a professional services company based in Charleville.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing costs and contracts throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards of quality.

 

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, the Quantity Surveyor will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to maximize value for our clients while minimizing risks and maintaining financial control.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for construction projects based on drawings, specifications, and other relevant documentation.
  2. Conduct thorough cost analysis, including material, labour, and equipment costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
  3. Procure subcontractor and supplier quotations, negotiate contracts, and manage the tender process to achieve the best value for the project.
  4. Evaluate and administer contracts, including assessing variations, claims, and change orders, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  5. Monitor project costs, cash flow, and financial performance, and provide regular reports to project stakeholders to track progress and identify potential issues.
  6. Collaborate with project teams to manage risk effectively and implement strategies to mitigate cost overruns and delays.
  7. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess progress, quality, and compliance with specifications, regulations, and best practices.
  8. Maintain accurate records of quantities, costs, and other relevant data using industry-standard software and systems.
  9. Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continually improve processes and outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a track record of successfully managing costs on projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques.
  • Proficiency in quantity takeoff, cost estimating, and budgeting software/tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex technical information and financial data.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
