Consultant – Oncologist

This is a full-time substantive (10 PA) appointment for a Medical Oncologist to join a motivated, friendly and experienced Oncology team. You will preferably demonstrate an interest in Lung, Upper GI or Colorectal Cancer and will also be expected to share duties with the rest of the consultant team. 

Join our team as an Oncology consultant and contribute to oncology department’s daily operations. 

Main Duties: 

Specific clinical responsibilities will be determined in consultation with the appointee. While we provide a tentative job plan, it can be adjusted to meet service needs and the appointee’s interests. Collaboration with existing Oncology Consultants is encouraged for service development. The expected workload is around 150 new patients annually.

Job Description :

  • The appointee should contribute to the Trust and Cancer Research Network’s research.
  • They must maintain excellent communication with GPs, engage in clinical audit and management, and participate in the Division of Medical Services’ operations.
  • Additionally, they will be involved in educating junior medical staff, undergraduates, GPs, nurses, and paramedical staff as needed.
  • The department has 2 ST trainees and a specialty doctor, along with 5 acute oncology nurse practitioners for support.
  • CME requirements must be met, with the Trust providing support as recommended by the Royal College of Physicians.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • Full MRCP (or equivalent)
  • GMC with a license to practice or in process 
  • Wide range of experience in Oncology
